How Much Does Holiday Dog Boarding Cost? Camp Bow Wow's $5 and $10 Surcharges, a $20 Resort Fee, and the Deposit and Cancellation Rules
The nightly rate is only half of a holiday boarding bill. For Thanksgiving and Christmas, many facilities add a per-night surcharge, set a minimum stay, take a deposit and tighten the cancellation deadline. This guide reads the public reservation policies of five Camp Bow Wow locations and one independent resort on October 19, 2026.
The surcharge is small per night, bigger per week
Katy and Cypress (Texas) list $5 per cabin, Humble (Texas) $5 per pup, and Lawrenceville (New Jersey) a $5 seasonal up-charge. Matthews (North Carolina) lists $10, and Country Inn Pet Resort in Davie, Florida lists $20 per pet per room.
Over seven nights that is $35, $70 or $140 by my arithmetic.
Where the holiday window starts and ends
Lawrenceville lists Thanksgiving as 11/25/26 to 12/1/26 and Christmas as 12/18/26 to 1/4/27. Matthews lists November 25 to December 1 and December 19 to January 3. Thanksgiving Day is November 26. Humble counts 3 days before and after the holiday, while Katy and Cypress say staff confirm the dates, so ask for them in writing.
Minimum stays
Katy, Cypress and Humble require 3 nights at holidays. Lawrenceville requires 2, and Matthews applies a 2-night minimum to stays that start three days before or end three days after a holiday.
Deposits and when you lose them
- Katy and Cypress: one night, with 48 hours notice for a full refund
- Humble: two nights per pup; refundable at 7 or more days, credit only to 48 hours, forfeited after that
- Lawrenceville: two nights and a 72-hour policy, due within one week of booking
- Matthews: 50%, refundable only at least 14 days before check-in
For a November 25 check-in, the Matthews deadline is November 11.
Surcharge as a share of the base rate
Country Inn lists dog suites from $80 a night and single cat cabins at $46, so its $20 fee is 25% and about 43%. It also charges a late checkout fee after noon, and Lawrenceville charges $15 on checkout day unless a grooming or enrichment service is booked. Sitters have holiday rates too
Rover's help center says sitters can set a separate holiday rate, and that a blank one means their normal rate applies. Ask which you will pay. For a short trip, visits like those in our dog walker cost guide may cost less than boarding.
Questions to ask before you book
- Which nights count, and is the fee per dog, cabin or room?
- What is the minimum stay, and how many nights is the deposit?
- What is the last day to cancel for a refund?
